how do you find inspiration for art? | artist advice

There are heaps more questions I will answer in the future, and instead of creating one single Q&A video answering multiple questions, I decided to answer them separately for future reference and also to allow me to elaborate on my answers.

How old are you?
• 21 years old

Did you go to any art school or academy?
• No. I took art classes in high school, but I didn't go to an art school.

How long have you been drawing?
• I've been drawing since I was 6 years old.

How do you draw the models? Do you use any templates?

Where do you get your inspiration?
• I get inspiration from music, browsing Instagram, Tumblr and
Pinterest, from other art/artists, basically from things that I love.

It's so hard for me to get inspired. I haven't drawn in over a month. Needed this. 💮💕

I open a magazine, close my eyes and flip through pages and pick one randomly then force myself to use that one page either the front, back or both sides and use the color, style, or whatever I find most interesting. Even if it's a medicine ad I use the black and white type print as inspiration and if only two colors are on the page I add my favorite or the complimentary. And exactly as you said, limit drawing time, unless I'm really into the concept that the page has driven me.

I really like the way you talk. It's so calm and relaxing. Like a slow stream in a beautiful sunny day. A bit of a breeze and someone just lying in the grass gazing up at the clouds and clear blue sky. That is what your voice would be. It's so inspiring.

I find inspiration for my drawings by meditating especially before you go to bed because then your dreams can turn those ideas into something amazing.

I myself am not a drawing artist, I'm a 3D artist, but I can clearly see myself in this video, me too sometimes find hard to find new ideas, new concepts and arts like you said, for me it's important the emotional state, if I'm angry or sad my mind just won't open to new things and ideas, but then I find inspiration in that emotions and sometimes they've been the fuel for some of my arts, it's incredible how similar arts can be, even being so different, I needed this thank you :)

Listening to these types of vids definitely help me so much. Especially right now, I’m struggling and afraid I might not draw anymore. But, I keep going. Keep drawing. And stuff like these always help me take that first step and then it’s all on that momentum.

When I'm really pressed for ideas, I like to focus on a tiny detail, and build outwards. Whether it's writing, or a character, or a painting, starting from the inside out helps me a lot.

Most helpful video on this topic i have ever come across, and the most clear!! I have definitely been struggling with the pressure of 'needing' to make 'original' art a ton, and it's REALLY hard to come up with 'new' ideas. That being said it has also been hindering me, because i have been feeling like if i am taking inspiration from something, if i draw that down and make it my own in an authentic way, i still felt like j was "copying" when in truth, i haven't been copying at all! I watch anime/read manga and the art inspires me to create my own style and a story with art.Its actually the reason I started drawing and I've always had to put up with people who "weren't a fan of the style" aka who weren't a fan of my style.Im also writing a story for school and I've been excited to draw concept art of the characters and places.

I think this is the best I have seen online about finding inspiration, you are covering a lot aspects.

Sketching brings me new ideas, seeing other artists works motivates me, travelling gives me another point of view of the same work and new stories... but I let energy from the nature to capture me and so I become more dreamy.

A lot of time my greatest inspiration comes from enjoying the greatest artists of all time. (In music) I’m a songewriter and producer and when not in a creative mood, usually 15 minutes or listening to my favorite artists or the greatest artists in history inspires me and excites me. To hear the brilliant things they came up with and to know that anything is possible and your next piece of art might be one of the greatest things ever created :). Thanks for sharing

thanks for this video, I feel much better. I used to consider about what I'm going to be when I got 18. I love to make clothes also draw but I have to admit that I draw so bad and I haven't learned anything about becoming a tailor, too. Sometimes, I still stuck with ideas.It was really confusing because you don't know what to do to improve that. But after watching your video, I think I should keep following my dream and try my best. Also, I have found the way to have more inspiration.Once again, thank you for your video.
