Everything You Need to Know About Wheel Spacers // ARE THEY ACTUALLY SAFE?
Показать описание
Safe Wheel Spacers? You should know these: material, mechanical performance, strength, precision, design, hub-centric or lug-centric, forging or casting…
In this video, I go over all of the important technical aspects of wheel spacers, covering things like spacer thickness, hub bore, stud length and aluminum grade to name a few. Should you have concerns or questions about their safety, this video should shed some light on the matter, unfolding everything you need to know about wheel spacers. I have an FAQ section found below to answer some other wheel spacer related questions.
Feel free to take a look at the tools and products I’ve outlined in this video. By purchasing items below, it helps my channel operate and brings more awesome content your ways. Thank you all for yThings our generous support!! 💙

FAQ
What spec spacers were installed on your civic?
15mm 5x114.3 64.1mm hub centric spacers for the front, and 15mm 5x114.3 64.1mm hub centric spacers for the rear.
Do spacers cause premature damage to wheel bearings?
Wheel spacers themselves don’t cause wheel bearings to fail, however too aggressive of offsets can. Weak offset wheels with spacer cause no more stress or strain on your wheel bearings versus more aggressive aftermarket wheels with the same offset, but that is specific to each vehicle. The factors that will affect that are the SAI angle and your wheel’s offset and alignment.
How do I calculate wheel offset with spacers?
You subtract the spacer thickness to your wheel offset. If you have a 17x7+45 wheel and you’re adding a 15mm spacer, it will effectively become 17x7+30. It will give you 15mm more strut clearance, and 15mm less fender clearance.
Do I need to re-torque my slip-on spacers?
Yes, however the process is no different for wheels without spacers. Simply torque your wheels 100 kilometres after having them dismounted.
Do I need to re-torque my bolt-on spacers?
With bolt-on wheel spacers, you should dismount the wheel, re-torque the spacer, reinstall the wheel, drive it around for another 100km, re-torque the wheel, and then you’re on your ways. It’s a bit more of a process, but that is the correct way in doing so.
Do I need an alignment after installing spacers?
No. A fresh alignment can’t hurt, but as long as you aren’t changing out any control arms, struts, or steering parts, you don’t need an alignment. If it was fine before, it will be fine afterwards.
Should I put anti-seize on my threads?
No! Never use any anti seize on lug nuts. You should only apply anti-seize to the mating surfaces of the wheel, spacer and rotor.
Can I double up wheel spacers?
You can when using slip on spacers. I wouldn’t go any wider than 25mm. For this coming season with my MINI, I will be running 2 slip on spacers, both of which are hub centric, since I couldn’t find a 18mm 4x100 wheel spacer. You can go with a custom spec too if you like.
Can I get bolt-on spacers for 2 different bolt patterns?
Yes. You can buy dual bolt pattern bolt-on wheel spacers for your car, allowing you to run Ford or BMW wheels on your Honda.
Do spacers change my scrub radius?
They do increase the effort required to turn the wheel, only if you use large spacers, however is no different if you’re changing wheels to your desired spec.
Where can I find the technical dimensions for my specific car?
How can I get my hands on a custom spec wheel spacer?
