Rare Rumsey-Williams Integral Frame Gas Engine

Показать описание
Unusual 10 Hp Rumsey-Williams throttle governed gas engine. The integral wagon frame and open crankcase is beautifully cast and finished, but the large, complex casting probably made this an expensive engine, limiting sales. Serial number 101.

Note the odd bolted in adapter block between the crankcase and bottlenecked cylinder, and compare the cylinder with "Rumsey running at Kenny Wolfs". The cylinders look similar, indicating that R-W might have adapted the cylinder from a horizontal engine, or vice versa, depending on which came first The horizontal engine has a "gearless" starwheel, while this vertical has a conventional 2:1 cam gear.

Limited research indicates that Rumsey-Williams built gas engines, fire apparatus, and threshers. The company was located in upstate New York, but moved locations several times.

This engine was set up next to the steam powered ice cream maker, posted previously.

I love these old pieces of equipment.
More people should restore the to operating condition.
In today's times of trouble, we may need them again, and it warms my heart to see some still working.
Keep up the good work, Bless you and yours, and all the people that keep the old reliables going!

Unique for sure. I would guess that design may have hurt its future as it wasn’t as adaptable as a conventional style engine.

Thanks for posting do you know if there are others like it, or is this the only one survived? Never seen anything like it.
