Siebe Gorman Vista Vision

Показать описание
The retro-futuristic Siebe Gorman Vista Vision respirator from around the 1960s, it seems to have some sort of acrylic face piece which was very advanced for the time it was made.
Probably one of the first panoramic vision masks with a massive clear face piece.
The mask could be used in both filter and SCBA system, it was mainly intended for firefighters or industry use.

Also regards the inhale/exhale valve. The filters for these had a non-return valve in the base, infact the filter design, in terms of overall design was very similar to that of the Small Box Respirator. The valve was a rubber disc much like you find in the LAGR and on the Civilian Respirator filters, which is crude but it does mean the facepiece itself doesn't need an inhale valve.

Funny this came out today, since yesterday I had left a comment about how much I love old industrial masks. Very interesting video.

I believe this acrylic facepiece was used on the last variant of masks sold under the Puretha name which had previously used a clone of the British Army Mk 5 General Service Respirator facepiece. It seems that it wasn't until after the acrylic facepiece was introduced that the marketing changed to Vista Vision. That might explain why your example isn't branded with Vista Vision, if it predates the marketing change.

Very interesting Gas Mask, certainly does make you think of sci fi films, remind me of the blob remake although it actually looks nothing like what they used.

I bought an FP-5 filter on ebay, it arrived sealed but expired since 2015, is it still safe to use and will it still protect again something ?

Hey man, I've got an issue that I'm really puzzled with. I bought an M65 Drager, it was accompanied by a Polish MS4 NATO Carbon Filter. It was gray with the following code: MS-4-172 I 92 P2 F (Is this filter safe to use?)

I have an old US M3A1 Diaphragm mask but it is the practice version and has a sort of solid plastic cover instead of an actual voice diaphragm. This brings me to my two questions. First of all, would it be possible to take the mask apart and be able to put a real voice diaphragm in it if i bought one? Secondly, I see that the real used versions of this mask sell for a lot...assuming I have the bag, the mask in good condition, and the tube, (not the/a filter, though) would it sell for a good amount? I live in the United States and from what I can see, people would sell the real mask for roughly sixty dollars, or about forty four pounds. Of course the practice version would sell for less, but how much less do you think?

EDIT: I will specify that currently, there is one of the real ones with a voice diaphragm on Ebay that is being sold for sixty dollars, but is unable to be used due to damage. Keep in mind, even though what I have is a practice version, the mask itself is in a rather good condition with minimal/trivial damage.
