I believe the original purpose of Stream.ofNullable was to create a stream with a single element with will be converted to empty stream or stream with one element. The example with flatMap(Stream::ofNullable) to filter stream of elements with nulls is not efficient as it creates multiple streams for each element in the list. More straightforward solution will be Arrays.asList(0, null,
