Funny thing... to the best of my knowledge, old computers like these still exist today in some workshops, controlling old machines that simply won't accept input from anything newer.

80486DX2 CPU with 256K cache @ 50MHz, 16MB RAM, dual floppys 5-1/4” and 3-1/2”, dual hard drives (or mayhaps single drive spilt).
And a SoundBlaster SB16!
For its era, that was a smoking fast machine.

I ran Doom on a 80286 with 1meg RAM and the system speaker… yeah, I had me some lag 🥸…but it was fun!

My first PC game as a child of ~4-5 years old: friggin' Shareware DOOM. Dad showed me how to cd C:/games and run doom.exe and I was off to hell.. at least the entrance to it.. then you start the same 9 levels over again and repeat about 200 times.
PS: that soundtrack playing specifically on these old DOS PC's just hits so right
