Blue Lock Ego’s are the foundation for the series as a whole. Becoming the World’s Best Striker requires you to be the world’s greatest egoist. A statement that has been pushed and solidified by Jinpachi Ego through every trial of the selection events since Blue Lock began. And now currently in the NEL, we not only have been given a greater understanding as to what a character’s ego entails, but also how it shapes their performance as a player. Recently in Chapter 280 and 281, we have been exposed to the concepts of Geniuses and Prodigies, giving them more realistic categorizations than just a fancy title. And for this video, I’ll be breaking down exactly what it means to be a prodigy and a genius, and how these classifications will lead Isagi to victory in this match.

Blue Lock (Japanese: ブルーロック, Hepburn: Burū Rokku) (stylized as BLUELOCK) is a Japanese manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It has been serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine since August 2018, with its chapters collected in 24 tankōbon volumes as of May 2023. In 2018, the Japanese national team finished 16th in the FIFA World Cup. As a result, the Japan Football Association hires the football enigma Ego Jinpachi. His master plan to lead Japan to stardom is Blue Lock, a training regimen designed to create the world's greatest egotist striker. Those who fail Blue Lock will never again be permitted to represent any Japanese team. Yoichi Isagi, an unknown high school football player conflicted about his playing style, decides to join the program to become the best striker in the world.

Blue Lock - EPISODE Nagi (ブルーロック-EPISODE 凪- Burū Rokku - EPISODE Nagi?) is a spin-off manga series illustrated by Kota Sannomiya, based on the original Blue Lock manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It began serialization on June 9, 2022 in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. The series follows Seishiro Nagi's life before he entered the Blue Lock facility.

To further expand on the Ness x Isagi:
Isagi was hinted at having a hidden "talent" or ability that he is unaware of which was talked about between Noa and Snuffy in Ubers before they entered the game - It is Isagi's ability to draw out the egos of others and make them play noticeably better, teammate or not.

This also further expands Egocentrism and Noa's Philosophy: Doing whatever it takes to become better/the best in the world. And Isagi experienced that for the first time with Noa's confession of him using Isagi to make Kaiser better so that he can somewhat compete with Noa.

The most noticeable example of Isagi's subconscious manipulation of others and drawing their egos out is his moment of inspiration/expectation of Hiori to keep playing and his assist with Yukimiya's goal in Manshine.

Barou is sort’ve strange to put a label on. The chapter labels him a genius by putting him with Bachira and Nagi, but he plays like a prodigy (villainous soccer). Could he possibly be a masquerader?

The final goal will be a Kaiser Impact pass into Isagi's direct shot. Ego keeps talking about how a Genius' ability needs to be recognized and translated into the world standard by someone who understands the talent. A really great way to do this would be for Isagi to see the Kaiser Impact's potential not just as a shot, but as a pass.

The problem is that Kaiser would never pass to Isagi. Because Kaiser hates him. BUT if you remember, there was an extremely similar situation near the beginning of the story, going back to the second selection where Barou, Isagi and Nagi faced Kunigami, Chigiri, and Reo. Barou was completely unwilling to pass to anyone else. It was a huge problem for the team, but Isagi forced Barou to pass by "devouring" him, putting himself in the only position that made a goal possible.

My prediction is that Isagi is gonna score the final goal in a very similar way. Kaiser will gain possession and experience the same thing Isagi is dealing with - he won't be able to imagine himself scoring and winning. It'd be really cool if they showed a similar visual to what Isagi sees when he can't imagine a goal, with like the cracks in the field and stuff. Loki will prolly be there, and Kaiser will be all like "I can't see my own goal" but then Isagi will SHOW him the image of the goal with his positioning - a position that can only generate a goal with the tempo of a Kaiser Impact pass. Kaiser will experience the hopelessness, and give Isagi the pass he needs to score.

Isagi's true ego is "devouring" the talents of others. In pretty much every arc, Isagi figures out ways to use the talents of others to benefit himself and his own goals. This is because Isagi's true talent is that he understands other people's talents better than even THEY do, and can generate better plans than everyone else. I think this would be a great way to tie in everything that has been discussed in the match so far.

Nagi would definitely be God given talent that is specific to only Soccer making him one of a kind and unique to only football unlike the other geniuses.

What If Kunigami was chosen and Reo was sent down to the wild card instead

Or even What if Kunigami and Reo managed to win the 2v2

Your right with your theory but instead of Genius X Prodigy aka Ness X Isagi it's gonna be Prodigy X Prodigy or Isagi X Kaiser

the official translation is Genius and talented learner which I think is a better way of putting it

I think Loki is going to be the final antagonist. Noel Noa is going to be a precursor, but Loki is going to truly personify both a genius and a prodigy

So essentially, the only talent on the pitch Isagi hasn’t made use of yet is Alexis Ness. Could argue Kiyora as well
