Parang & Trinidad | 'Angelo' | Santa Cruz, Trinidad

Parang is often all about family. After meeting Godfrey Pacheco in Lopinot, he invited us to his home in Santa Cruz and again played for us, this time in a band he calls, "El Cantaro," filled with his family, friends, and neighbors. That's his wife on the maracas and one of his daughters singing.

The tune may not be parang, (it's actually a cover of a song that was top of the charts in the U.K. in 1977, a song called "Angelo" by the band Brotherhood of Man) but it's a wonderful look at the importance of family and song in Trinidad.
