From what I've tested, seems to only work if the shield remains. If you have any aoe like yiQ, then they just get another shield despite being less than 10s

wow this still works.

but in my opinion the problem is that after killing the first krug you only have 10 seconds to kill the second one. most champs cant do that, even with smite up.
