Opening Pokemon Cards can be a ton of fun. One of the best feelings is sitting down with friends or family and ripping packs in a search for that ultimate chase. And when you pull it, the feeling of euphoria is something that just simply can not be matched.

Unfortunately, there are times in Pokemon when opening cards can lose its appeal. Difficult pull rates can frustrate a Pokemon Card Collector and when a certain card gets bought up and manipulated, things can become infuriating.

Twilight Masquerade is the most recent Pokemon Card set release, and it is beginning to feature some of those frustrating points. With Illustration Rares like Eevee and Special Illustration Rares like Kieran getting bought up and manipulated, the cost of sealed booster boxes is starting to climb as people have begun to focus on trying to pull these cards rather than buy the singles. With a lower supply of booster boxes available, Twilight Masquerade booster boxes have crept up to nearly $120 per booster box. An online store here in Norway had an ok price for Twilight Booster box (around $138, yes, Norway is effin expensive), but suddenly they hiked the price up to $147. Still a new set and not old at all, yet they set the price up - Outrageous, really. Considering how much we have to buy the boxes for in general. The cheapest ones, Paradox Rift is still at $138.

We're like what, 2 months removed from the release of Twilight? My LCS usually sells packs of sets that's been out for this long for $3. When I went the other day, they were asking $4. Not sure how much supply they have but it definitely seems like they're riding the Greninja/Eevee hype wave. I bought 4 packs and got a Probopass IR, haha. Fun cost was high on that small purchase.

Paldea Evolved’s Magikarp took longer to go from $50 to $100+ than this Eevee took to go from $40 to $70. Magikarp took about 9 months, while Eevee took only 2 months. There’s debate as to “why?”, but it is a pattern of IR/SIR cards in SV going boom in percentage value increased.

It's always cheaper to buy singles for every set. There isn't one set that it's better to open packs. 151 got close at one point but to get a complete set it's still far cheaper to buy singles because you won't pull perfectly. Opening packs is super fun but it certainly takes a good bit of disposable income.

I bought a single booster box of twilight masquerade on my birthday with the sole purpose of pulling the greninja and i managed to pull it and the eevee from the same box. Was a good birthday. Unfortunately the greninja doesn’t look like psa 10 quality but still super awesome to have pulled. Most expensive card i’ve ever pulled

Invest in 2 boxes each set and buy the best chase card as a single. Of loading 2 booster boxes with the best chase card will sell very well in years to come because you’re offsetting the risk for the buyer when they know they’re getting the chase card 100% and 2 boxes to chance pulling it again

Great video as always, try living in the uk where booster boxes release at around $130 and never go on sale. I don’t open any booster boxes any more and I end up just buying the cards I want on the secondary market. It’s not worth the cost right now 😢

Is it worth it? Wow. Loaded question. Yes and No. too many variables involved to give a definitive yes or no. Got extra money? Do you enjoy it?…. I say Yes!!!
