I just finished 2 seasons of "Gems Only" on my Navy Dynasty from the recommended tab and it was honestly the most fun I've had. No cheese, hard work scouting every week, managing hours. I landed a full 22 starters my second year after I maxed out recruiting. People sleep on recommended prospects and immediately go after the Top Prospects. I've found several generational prospects with elite dev that were 3 stars in my recommended tab.

I use to cut only players with normal or impact dev traits but honestly now I'm thinking about making note of number of skill caps and cutting the guys with the most skill caps per position. It'll be an interesting experiment.

This is great stuff! Have you considered doing a video about redshirting? There’s some mixed opinion about whether it’s worth it since some claim there’s bigger xp boosts for true freshmen vs redshirted guys that you’d miss out on if you redshirt. Meanwhile others say the extra year gives more benefit since there’s one more season of development.

Curious what you think about it.

I had a 3 star gem WR with Star dev who capped out at an 81 because of his skill caps

One thing that I noticed is that athlete gems are incredibly inconsistent. Sometimes they are great where they are, sometimes they are raw at the preferred position (what they recruit as), sometimes they are insane when moved.

What I noticed is gems just development speed players I been seeing players with normal trait and be 90+ with a star sophomore season and just sat on the bench freshman season

When I’m trying to decide I usually will choose to after a guy with more abilities and attributes coming in as a freshman than I will a gem prospect. When recruiting at smaller schools it’s crucial to have guys that can actually perform

I believe every 5 star gem I’ve ever recruited has had elite dev. I’ve verified it the last two classes and it’s been 100% true, last class 6/6 were. Maybe it’s a small sample size but seems to be holding true.

Skill caps are easily one of the dumbest features EA has ever wasted time putting into a game. I love not knowing if my players will have 1 skill cap or 15+ much fun.

What are skill caps? And what do they do or don’t do?

Facts! I had gems with elite and my 3star normal dev got to 93 and was above my 85 gem elite dev player by year 3

You mention in the video that his attribute is below or above average. Do you have a list of the averages of each attribute?

I have found skill caps to be random and gems are impact or higher development…recruit 5 star qbs gem or not 4 star WRs…u can def move most to running backs and the rest 3 star or better that are gems always level up to be pros borderline 1st round picks in often…

Good info! The stats for red gems are good sometimes they’re hard to pass up does it mean they have bad dev trait or don’t meet certain breakpoints for stats?
