I can relate with this, after my grandmother passing away it has taken me 5 years to mourn and try to heal. I feel lost and alone without her like a dog without a handler.

As a man that has also lost everything due to depression i feel really sad for him..

what he says is true...
The mind really does stop working..
At least it stops working in a productive manner.
He lost the person in his life he was closest to.
The one that grounded him to his belief, focus and kept him wanting to do better.
Without him he could not find any motivation, joy, reason and so he quit..

When you genuinely do not see a reason to life, a reason to dream, a reason to hope then you are lost..

I got no idea how to get back on track, but i hope he makes it.
Seems like he at least has the option to get the help needed.
