I am totally ok with my taxes going to programs like this.

The cats are letting themselves be held. That speaks volumes of how gentle these men are being.

“I’m helping her get over her abuse and she’s helping me get over mine.”

THIS is why rehabilitation is so important!

The inmate saying "i may never get out, but if i have to spend my life taking care of these animals then I'll be alright" really shows how these men simply need/want a purpose... i love love this program!

I spent a year and a half here. In the cat dorm. As someone who loves cats, it makes my incarnation so much easier. It's a great program. And didn't let me lose the light to keep moving forward

This just makes sense. Incarcerated individuals need emotional support. Abandoned pets need the same.

"We're not just saving four legged lives here, we're saving two legged lives too."
That's profoundly important.
Hope changes everything!

People often forget prison isn't all about punishment, but also rehabilitation back into society. Programs like these make such a difference in the people's lives

The fact that the prisoners are doing vet work on their cats it’s really impressive! They can diagnose the cats right there!

This program should become the industry standard in incarceration facilities. This program is beyond amazing and needs to be recreated in other facilities. Phenomenal work being done.

I love that its not "general wing" and "Secure wing" - its "cat area" and "dog area" and that these men are taking time to learn veterinary skills to help where they can is profound.

We forget too often that prisoners are humans too, with an often negative background/upbringing.

Unlike other countries, the US has in too many cases given up on rehabilitation, but I hope this story will set a beginning for change.

Greatest story I've heard about in a while--thank you so much for this segment!

A lot of these men have been really hurt and neglected by other humans, so to trust other people is so pathologically hard for them, but animals don’t challenge their mistrust like a relationship with another person would. These men get to experience love which is so incredibly important for their rehabilitation. The moment Jackson went into the prison wing I could feel the peace through the screen and face blurring. This has made me so happy today.

I was in this program. It’s a huge blessing.

Even with the blurring of faces, you can still see what Jackson meant. it's all in their body language and how they hold the kitties

My heart melted the moment the inmate didn’t just acknowledge the cats, but the dogs and fellow humans as well! As a former criminal justice major, I’m charmed lol.

The pain in that man’s voice as he talks about what COULD have happened to these animals is palpable through the screen...

What an amazing program! I love how beneficial it is for both the animals AND the inmates ❤️❤️❤️

As a cat owner, I can assure that these cats are adored, pampered and treated well.
Their faces are calm and cheeky, as if they are convinced they have humans under their control.
Those cats must think this prison is a resort with servants created for them by humans.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my life. This program needs to be adopted in nearly every institution that has inmates willing to cooperate with it. This is amazing.
