Mapping Out An Animated World

(Somehow I managed to say J.R.R Tolkien instead of George R.R. Martin when talking about Game of Thrones. Sorry about that mistake for anyone wondering)

I find maps of fantasy worlds really interesting. Games like Skyrim, Dragon Quest and Pokemon. Movies and TV like Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings. Therefore I thought I'd have a go at roughly mapping out my animated film while also just making a little bit of progress in other areas.

The whole concept of your movie is brilliant, I'd really love to see it fully animated and everything someday.

It’s like a channel inside of a channel! And I love both channels!

Making a world map for your fictional story is key in my opinion. Otherwise, you run the risk of accidentally misplacing a location relative to everything else or even risk forgetting about key locations after your characters visit them. (Like if your characters cross a mountain early on but then don’t on the trip back the way they came much later on)

I concur that J. R. R Tolkien's greatest fictional setting was indeed Westeros

Great video and totally correct too, I’ve been working on a novel and the first thing I did before I even had a name was to make a map. It helped me visualize what I wanted to do and what the lore was, and it was really fun too! I remember getting really in to it, like making the majority of cities near rivers and lakes, and designing towns around their geographical location, because you won’t find a fishing town in the mountains. It’s a fun experience even if you don’t do anything with it like I have.

Love. It. the whole world is so beautiful both in how you've drawn it/how you have described it, Also you explained the different types of worldbuilding in Game of thrones and Spirited away very well, lovely video

Hello, I don't know to say this, but! These animated film video are great, but that's not the real point I'm typing this down. The real point is that I admire what you do. These videos about you making a animated film. Is that you are working on it. You are in control of your ideas. I admire that greatly. From your Inspirations, to your semi-fleshed out story your working on. It breathes a beautiful air for your project.
Along with that and those compliments, is another point I want to make.
I'm doing the same thing too.
I'm genuinely trying to make animated film too. All by my Lonesome.
And not like a short film that's all over YouTube, but a actual full-length animated film. In actual 2D, in particular. And so far, it's going great! During all of these troubled times have really helped me out with crafting and creating my own animated worlds. With my current production getting close on making storyboards.
But I want to tell another truth. I only semi watch your video. Periodically when you upload a new one. I occasionally watch it, but sometimes halfway through watch it. I get inspired to continue my work, and not finish your video completely. It sort of the thrill of listening to another story there writing. It makes me inspired to write one myself. It's like watching a Studio Ghibli movie and then at the end wondering what else is there. What else from those world could happen. What adventure are there. All the fun to watch and dream about. That's always my mind-space, and its very beautiful!
So in the end of things, or rambling about crazy nonsense or whatever! I like to say "I'm happy to find this channel, these videos, this person; who is very enthused about making something they like." Thank you!
