Bought some Lake shoes for for when it is far below freezing. Sized down and went wider. So good. Going to get some of their shoes for road and then for gravel/mountain. My current road shoes are driving me insane. Not even thinking about a new bike until that is squared away. Great channel!

I love these vlogs coach. You make so much sense. Your attitude to cycling fitness is golden. And all these idiots follow the like of the rock 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've broken laces on boas before now (must have fists of steel 😂). Good news is you can send off for free replacement kit if they break direct from Boa.

Had a Boa dial fail as I was sprinting out of the final corner. Fortunately it was in warm up not in a race, it was a hairy moment, the upper dial just let go, my foot was loose in the shoe and my bike went sideways. I have had a couple of other failures with dials, just not holding tension when putting them on. That was the only one while riding.

I wear a 45 Sidi wires and my mavic ksyrium shoes are 44. It's funny as I don't feel any movement in the larger Sidi shoes maybe because they are a narrow snug shoe. I do like about 8-10mm of free time space in any shoes which is what I have in the Sidi shoes. In a wider shoe I found getting the size bang on to your normal walking shoes stops fore and aft movement.

Hey coach, lakes look really awesome. I have the 301. My left feet is also bigger then my right 🤣 and my right leg is 1cm shorter, sometimes i have a bit of front pain on my left knee and hip. Could you do a video on seat for and aft? Thx, for the videos👍

I'll get a new pair of shoes from you (if you sell them) when I'm through getting my bike fit 👍

Thanks for the wonderful tip, coach.
What’s your take on Fi’zi:k Vento Aeroweave R2? Assuming their breathable construction (reducing swollen feet?). I’m eyeing those pair & wonder if you’ve tried them & could give your opinion? I wonder if they’re comfortable for long rides (?)

I have 265 mm length and 100 width foot (longest) which should fit a 43 sized Lake 238 or 431, but I can still lift a bit my heel…any advise on other wide shoes with a smaller more snug heel?

Hey! As someone relatively new to cycling(riding with cleats for about 6months) and not many road buddies..could you give any pointers..? Im not sure if sesamoiditis is the correct term..but its only my right foot.(smaller foot) its like the ball of my foot is larger/inflamed- probably developed from constantly riding at this point. Where compared to the left, its formed a noticable drop. I have high arch feet, and use a supported insole..with padding and a cut-out area to alleviate the ball. Which a podiatrist made for me. Have tried ajusting saddle height, cleat position and one or 2 other tweaks..Its the only issue i suffer with on the bike..and feel a bike fit may not be necessary.. Maybe a brand of shoes that cater to me? Apologies for the long ass message. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge and videos!

Any ideas for someone with feet wider than the widest Lakes? Short wide feet with bunions, I've tried the widest Lakes and Bont wide. I can cut away the forefoot sides of Bont which works, but far too cold in Winter....Without going fully custom, do you know of any brands who do super wide models?

Hi, awesome video. I recently bought the lake cx238 and the fit felt pretty good(length and width wise). However, I’ve found that my heal keeps slipping about a fair bit. Any recommendations?

I’ve worn out boa dials to the level where they would unwind if I flexed my foot inside the shoe. Bought new ones to replace, didn’t know about the lifetime warranty.. sidi techno dials on the other hand, may not look as sleek but they have proved to be indestructible over many more miles compered to boas.

Hey Coach, if you can give me some advice... I bought two pairs of Lake shoes. Both are the same size, 43 (270.5-273mm). The CX-218 are great but a little bit wider for me(100mm), and the CX-301 are small for me (not enough space for a big toe, their width is 95mm). I am dealing with bigfoot instability which causes a knee issue.
So my question is, should I stick with the wider ones (CX218) or should I go for the narrow version, like CX301 just a half size bigger. Thanks in advance!

Whatever is priced under $250 is my spending limit for shoes. It's just a pair of shoes nothing more.

Strangely enough I've the 332's also BUT mine are the widest you can get, spied them initially re the molding capabilities but what i thought - the front, and that can move also, though i wouldn't as if you value toe movement in Lakes leave them. People rave about Lakes but just like a great fitting SMP saddle, Lakes are similar 🙏 study the size guide measure your foot (press it down on the floor) measure that widest width then your length and get the proportional size - and you're good too go.. 👍 😎

I used the same lake shoes that you showed. Was not suitable for me at all. The leather keeps on expanding as you ride leading me to tighten it more until it is unbearable. I used it for about 1 year and my experience was very painful. Lake might be good shoes, not for me. Material is good for a normal shoes and not cycling
