One of the best post-race interviews I’ve seen. Congrats to Maia on a great performance

The announcer gets so invested in her stories and hype that she forgets to call the race. The field was running Tuohy down along the back stretch and the announcer kept talking about how great Tuohy looked. uhh, hello.

A smart runner is a dangerous competitor. Run hard for 3 laps, race for one.

What an amazing race! I'm a Touhy fan, and I know she ran with a lot of heart. I know that she will snap back from this. I wish I could have seen here in the 5K as well. The fact that she qualified for the finals in both is amazing. After pushing so hard all year, she had a great season. Congrats to Maia. That was a very technical performance and a well earned win.

The winner ran a very smart race. Congrats! But, you can bet Tuohy learned a whole heck of a lot in this race and she will put it to good use.

Awesome run Maia. I love the patience and attacking corners, even the big arm finish... love the new changes in your form... not forgetting your signature 'talking' at the end of every training run! your energy is on another level! Much love from your track family in Fiji!!

Good for Maia. She is said to be a very nice person. KT didn't look right on Thursday after an incredibly slow 4:14. Here she looked exhausted after running 4:11 and completely running out of gas with 100 to go. Henes reportedly said Tuohy felt 'awful' after the race so she decided to scratch her, which was the smart thing to do. Let's just hope she doesn't have something that will sideline her for long.

Love watching these women race, all of them give 100 percent. So congratulations to you all. So good to see Maia bringing the next era of New Zealand middle distance runners. Lovelock, halberg, Snell, Walker.
Great style, race craft and execution Maia.

As I see it, after Tuohy saw O'Sullivan scamper away in the semi, she decided that setting a fast early pace would take away the tall woman's legs. O'Sullivan may also have been tired from winning the semi, but in either case, running so fast so early also took away Tuohy's legs at the end, and didn't slow down the half dozen women that passed her in the last few hundred meters. Even with perfect tactics, Tuohy would have had difficulty beating *all* these experienced 1500 runners. I suspect her legs were so dead after this effort, that she pulled out of the 5000 to prevent injury.

Yeah great job Kiwi Maia. John Walker would be proud of that 200m kick - beautiful! Good luck for the 5. Enjoy👍
