The Medium is a psychological horror game coming to PC and Xbox Series X and S at the end of January 2021, and we got a sneak peek at the game recently thanks to developer Bloober Team, who also chatted about the time spent in development of the game over lockdown. Had to stop the video twice to go and look up pics of the Hotel Cracovia (what a brute!) and the art of Zdzislaw Beksinski (gorgeously horrifying!) so extra thanks for that! Really like the aesthetic of the game, and what we know of the story is intriguing - hoping to see an eg stream/vid once it launches!

Headcanon: this is the same Mary-Ann from Tell Me Why. She couldn't handle the stress of being a Medium any more so moved to a remote town of Alaska

I quite like the presentation of this, but can't help but think the OOBE thing would be better with just a corner cut rather than leaving that much of the screen basically inactive. Since it is a cinematic thing, she should really automatically look in the direction of the Maw when it's there; that'd be a lot more accessible & realistic too.
Also, it seems to be missing the bit where you con grieving parents out of vast sums of cash.

I was interested, and then they said the spirit world was inspired by Beksinski- which sold me. He's my favorite artist of all time.

Also, the whole duel worlds concept reminds me of what Respawn did with the time travel level in Titanfall 2. Which was absolutely fantastic I might add.

Playing The Medium atm. And loving it so far. A very good plot to explain the damage Grief, Loss and Abuse can cause.

I love a good bit of narrative story telling, also it's so good to have a successor to Silent Hill.

Really strong Control/Silent Hill vibes but with a something-ness I can't quite put my finger on. Bioshock Infinite-ish, Dishonoured-esque, Tomb Raider-y, Broken Sword-akin, hints of A Plague Tale Innocence? hmph no, but its something... Ah feck, I'll pre-order it when I can, figure it out when I play it.

This game looks so cool. Really interesting concept for a game. One thing I might be noticing, however - is whichever reality that isn't in focus in the cutscenes playing at a different framerate from the main reality? Wonder if that's a stylistic choice or simply a horsepower one. Regardless, super stoked to see a let's play if this!

I don’t mind the fixed camera angle. It reminds me of old school Resident Evil games and Silent Hill!

I don't usually do horror games but this looks intriguing. Definitely going to give it a look as it's on gamepass. The two worlds certainly sounds interesting.
