The ongoing series teaching Biitish Military Swordsmanship from home. This is working from Roworth (1798-1824), and is for all military swords used on foot, including Broad sword, sabre, spadroon, hanger and cutlass.

Is there a particular reason why you would want to cut after the outside disengage response as opposed to thrusting?

Would it not be more beneficial to commit to thrust rather than a cut after the wrench? You've already displaced your opponent's blade, wouldn't a thrust leave your blade to maintain the defensive line you've already won?

Great video as always. I have a question. When the opponent disengages to the inside, isn’t it more consise and easier to move the sword to an inside guard position rather than half circle? Is there a special reason to use the half hanging position?
