Afghanistan was a war of choice, the Taliban was willing to turn over Bin Laden.
Afghanistan failed becasue of privatization and deregulation with no oversight. What republicans have pushed for years with no pushback from democrats.
Afghanistan had more private contractors than troops.

We now spend more than half our defense budget on private contractors. The military used to do what the contractors do for half the cost.
Afghanistan failed becasue our military now has no control over what happens on the ground or in the air. It's up to private contractors, not military orders or our government, if they are willing to do their job or not.
We don't have the best military anymore. We have the highest paid mercenary force that is useless that can't do what is needed as it drains trillions for the profits of a few oligarchs.

Funny you can't look so objectively at our own country

‘Afghanistan is an import economy’
How do they pay for those imports?
Why do they export that generates currency to pay for imports?

Perhaps we should not be spending any money on them.
At all……

Forcing the vote didn't work out last time. She's such a hypocrite.

I like how the reflection of "Rising" from the background creates a smiley face reflection on their desk :)

Ryan does a great job providing the context that people need to fully understand an issue. He is an invaluable asset on this show.

Ryan let me give you an example say I say I came in and robbed your house and I do everything in your house Then I'll call back the next day and tell you I want all the money you have in your bank and wallet and wallet because what I stole from you isn't enough would you give me what's in your bank and your wallet even if I was starving I don't think so that that's a problem with progressive liberals and is liberals and democrats As long as somebody else is paying the bills they have bleeding hearts If you guys believe in this so much you send Afghanistan your money and leave mine alone

Great commentary, Ryan. The explanation of how the money was earned and flows was well done and you're comparison of the potato famine and potential crisis in Afghanistan feels very "apples to apples" and did improve my understanding of political cause and effect.

Not buying it. Giving the Taliban money doesn’t mean they will feed hungry people. Let Allah do it.

I think that's wrong Robbie. Nobody wanted it to work they just wanted to make money. There was NO effort put forth

We have 'given' them about 8 billion in weapons. I think we have done more than enough. Let them eat the tires off a Humvee 🦉

We are done spending money in Afghanistan. For war or anything else

If they give up the weapons we left there in trade then free up some money for their people.

And the Afghanistan withdraw gets worse and worse…

They can give us all the weapons and intel we left for them and we can start giving them the money we froze. Possibly start an actual legitimate political dialogue with Afganistan??? Is that a fair compromise?

Well it's great their doing this but why do they not force a vote on some issues that would help some American people for a change
