5 Ways to Find CG (CENTER OF GRAVITY) of RC Plane

preview_player
Показать описание

The CG or Center of Gravity is the most important thing for RC model flight, because without setting up the CG correctly, your plane will have bigger chance to crash on the first flight. When Aircraft is flying it's hanging on its wing or surf on top of the wings so the CG is usually located on the wing but not always. For tradional configuration like plane with wing and stabilizer, the CG is always on the wing. Except the plane with canard the CG maybe located off the wing. CG is a center where the plane balanced when flying, not on ground but when flying. CG in aviation is actually quite complicated, but for model aircraft it's quite simple.

There are 5 Ways to find RC plane CG. I compiled them from the easiest to the hardest :
1. By using your eye and finger
2. Sticks and thread
3. Drawing lines
4. Online CG calculator
5. Smaller flying model

Hello Julius, this is a long awaited video tutorial on cg and I and the hobby thank you so much for putting it in plain and simple terms. I'm a pilot of full size aircraft as well as rc and have worked in the aviation industry yet this is the best explanation of the subject that's put forward well done

Just today i was thinking i should request you to make a separate video for the following topics, if possible, Pak:
1. Finding/calculating the CG.
2. Tips for ironing the laminated film without wrinkles.
3. Tips to laminate the Depron without risk of warping the foam.
And here you have answered my prayers! Two thumbs up! 👍👍

The Boeing 747 is more complicated to calculate the taper ratio because the wing can be divided in 3 parts. Still can use formula for mean aerodynamic chord but the taper ratio is challenging to calculate before applying the formula for mean aerodynamic chord. Because the wing design of that airplane is crescent.
