If they don't have cars for under 2 grand, paid in cash and sealed with a genuine handshake, I wouldn't want to know.

Top tip. Never buy a car from a car super market!

Brilliant vid Geoff. I visited their Kent Branch before they went nationwide. At the time they were focusing on used BMWs. Experienced the 'advertised car does not exist' trick and sales staff in shiny suits.
The new business model does not allow customers to look at cars "unsupervised'. It's a pressure environment, walked out.

Never, ever ever ever ever give em a deposit. Pay for the car when you know it’s tip top and you’re 100% sure it’s what you need/want. Additionally pay for some of it with a credit card so you’ve got the might of of your credit card companies legal department behind you when/if it goes tits up

Had a few red flags when I went to see a car at Big Motoring World Enfield. Firstly they wouldn't let us into the car showroom until they asked 100 questions to check I wasn't a "tyre kicker", then threatened to raise the price of the car when I turned down their finance, then offered me £500 for my £2, 000 trade in and the cherry on the cake, insisted that I needed their top grade warranty. I responded, if your car had been fully checked and is so great then why should I upgrade the warranty. Bought a car from Mantles in Royston, amazing dealership, amazing customer service and amazing car, my mate works for Norton Way Honda Letchworth who are equally amazing. Big Motoring bullet dodged!

Big Motoring World sounds like something out of dystopian novel.

Me and my mate weren't even let into the Norwich branch, we only wanted to have a look, was told we had to sit down with a sales person first to see what our options were 😂 jog on

I used to work for Big Motoring World as a handover advisor a few years ago, before they went nationwide.... This is hilarious! Obviously not to the people that have been ripped off but it makes me chuckle to hear they are just as shit as they used to be. I completely believe all of these complaints. Every time I am asked if I'd recommend buying a car there I always tell them absolutely not!

The problem is car supermarket giants in general. All they care about is selling you warranty and add ons. Therefore when the car dose go wrong they just point you in the direction of the warranty firm. To which the warranty firm then refuse to fix because the fault was allready sold with the car.
This is speaking with experience with buying a car from Evans halshaw.

Best way to buy a used car is either privately or from a small independent dealer.

I bought a BMW from Peter when started up in Teynham kent. Brilliant deal and very helpful. Move on a few years and he had moved a few miles up the road to Bapchild Looked at a Volvo 960 . Peter gave me £20 for petrol and said take as long as you like. Lovely car but not for me. Later when they became too big I would avoid them like the plague. As soon as any car sales asks for a up front dep or a comission fee I would walk away.

They also charge a £300 'administration fee' on top of the price. Total rip off merchants, would not touch them.

The cars for sale will mainly be ex lease cars. They would have been courteous cars, damaged repaired, ex rental and all the other things lease cars are used for. They will have a full dubious history, most likely one key (common on ex rentals). You may get lucky and get an ex company car that has been looked after by a loving employee. But these kind of supermarket style dealers have a steady supply of these lease cars that are considered seconds and not suitable for general retail.

I went to a fairly large dealers near Sheffield to look at a Chrysler 300 C estate, I looked around their showground, but could not see it so I asked a female assistant she said she will bring it back for me sat me down and got me fill in my details. When it hadn't arrived some time after she spoke to a colleague and he said it was sold. This was a Wednesday on the following Sunday it's on their website for sale but at a reduced price so I rang them and they said it was sold. One week later I looked on their website and it was for sale at an even lower price so I rang them and they said it was sold. So what a shower idiots they were.

200 point check means that they should be checking everything including all of the nuts, bolts, wiring and everything else on the car. The neighbours next door to my parents purchased a Volvo from another well known car supermarket who offer a 100 point check scheme apparently when it arrived they had never checked the condition of the brakes as they were on their last legs and the oil was right on the bottom of the dipstick.

Big Motoring World still has the toxic wideboy culture of their founder and ex-Chairman, Peter Waddell. No doubt he's done well for himself, but part of the problem is that people will ignore all the warning signs just to be in a BMW/Merc/Audi. At one stage salesmen from Big infiltrated the Pistonheads motoring forum to post praise for themselves before being caught out. That speaks volumes for their ethnics and morals. I live near the 3 main branches in Kent and whenever I see a premium car with Big on the number plate, I just know that they will have been upsold GAP, snake oil paint protection, tyre insurance, smart repair insurance and the lovely triple platinum extended warranty.

Robin Hood never wore a mask, and I believe the phrase is “at least Dick Turpin wore a mask”, he was a highwayman.

One of my customers friends purchased a Audi from BMW, paperwork done and collection was arranged for the following Saturday. When he went to collect it he found that they had sold it to another customer. When he complained the sales man offered him outside for a fight. This chap is built like the side of a house and the sales guy looked like he would snap in a strong breeze. He laughed at him, got his money back and never went back

Bought a 5 year old 320d from the Enfield branch. Was a very good price and car was in great condition for the mileage. Had 3 years of faultless motoring since then. It was a good experience. For any second hand car, it is up to the buyer to carry out due diligence / check condition of vehicle. I paid cash but they did pressure me to buy on finance. I can see why that would be frustrating for some people. The sales staff are clearly incentivised to sell finance and extended warranties.
