Welcome Corps Information Session

The Welcome Corps is a new service opportunity for Americans to welcome refugees seeking freedom and safety and, in turn, make a difference in their own communities. Through the Welcome Corps, Americans work in groups of at least five to welcome refugee newcomers by securing and preparing initial housing, greeting refugee newcomers at the airport, enrolling children in school, and helping adults to find employment.

In this session, you will hear from sponsors who have already welcomed newcomers into their communities. You’ll also hear from members of the Welcome Corps team who will discuss:
- the responsibilities of private sponsorship;
- how the Welcome Corps supports private sponsors; and
- how you can apply to become a private sponsor

I am Iranian.  I and my family are refugees in Turkey and we have been undecided and in difficult conditions for years. I have a private sponsor for the Wellcome corps program  and I was waiting. But unfortunately, Turkey was announced as part of the restricted list. I request the Wellcome program and the Turkish government to remove Turkey from the list. Please help the refugees.

I have a private sponsor for the American Welcom Corps program. After a year of waiting for the start of the program, unfortunately, Turkey was included in the list of restrictions of this program. We do not know the reason for this. We are in danger mentally and physically and we are unable to continue in these conditions. I am a Yemeni young man residing in Egypt, and I have five American friends who are ready to be supportive of me. I could not obtain a refugee card from the UNHCR because registration of the application in the office is closed, and even if the asylum office was open, there is a problem in submitting asylum applications, which is the delay, which may be long Waiting for more than six months, ,,, My question is, , , In order for me to benefit from the Welcome Corps program, do I have to have a refugee card from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees? Or is it enough for me to be a resident of another country because of the war in my country?

Good evening , I am Venezuelan, mother of three beautiful children, due to difficult situations I find myself in a refugee situation in Colombia and I have possibly been qualified for the welcome corps program but I do not have sponsors, my mother and brother live in Florida and sadly we have not I was able to get that support for Again after Six Years so my mom can give a hug to one of her grandchildren 😞. Before June 30, if I find a kind person who can shake hands, we are a family with vision and desire to make a new life and a great future for my children 😞😭😭
