So basically, Tate is only obsessed with one factor and no other factors. He's obsessed with genders only or see gender as the only primary factor to judge a person's worth and not experience, skills, education, reputation, personality etc. I would choose a female pilot who have good reputation and actually have experience. Thinking about men is better than women or vice versa is purely a social construct, we need to go beyond that there's a lot of factors to take in. I don’t think a female pilot is the average woman emotionally, just like I don’t think a female surgeon or female emergency nurse or Ambulance officer is the average woman emotionally.
