Jerome Bruner - Three Modes of Cognitive Representation
Показать описание
This video attempts to define and give examples of Bruner's three modes of cognitive representation. By better understanding these "three systems by which people structure their understanding of the world" (Driscoll, 2005, p. 229) instructional designers can more effectively target their interventions towards appropriate cognitive modes. For example, if learners are to be given information with which they have no prior experience, a designer might include instruction that activates enactive or iconic structures at first, only moving to more complex symbolic representations after learners have become more familiar and comfortable with the content.
