Unveiling the Ultimate Performance Test: 7800X3D + 4090 | Microsoft Flight Simulator

Here I showcase my PC performance flying into the 3 most demanding airports in Microsoft Flight Simulator London Heathrow, New York JFK and Los Angeles LAX using an AMD 7800X3D CPU and Gigabyte 4090! Please note: This test was done using Sim Update 13, I realise Sim Update 14 has been pushed for release today 05/12/23 but wanted to make that clear.

If like me, you are considering a major PC upgrade for MSFS this is the video I could not find to help me! True test of performance, Ultra settings @ 4k everything fully loaded using the Fenix A320. At the end of the video I display 3 performance graphs with my results which I hope you find useful!

Running a 4070. Never have much concerned myself with FPS overall. Have ran a few minor tests just for some initial setup, but as long as we arent getting stutters etc, Im okay with it. Almost always fly either the femix or pmdg, and only 3rd party airports. Have well over 100 custom airports, and just enjoy the graphics much better. Run FSRealistic, FSTraffic, Tobii eye tracker, FS Chatter, FS2Crew, and some others. Run settings high and ultra. Overall havent noticed any significant issues.

I have a 5800x3d and 4070 running 2k ultrawide. I am def considering picking up the 4090 early next year or waiting for the 5090. The VRAM is my biggest issue with the 4070.

Could you do a video of RealTraffic + PSXT showing how it works and the amount of air traffic that it injects and any impact on performance - it would be greately appreciated thanks. FYI I am currently on a 3900X and 4070 with the intention to move o the 7800X3D this year.

Great videos Sid, thank you for sharing ! I've noticed you keep LOD around150-200. In your opinion, is there much that is lost from a visual experience point of view keeping the LOD at medium levels ? is the FPS impact too high even on your "monster" setup ? could you do a LOD tests video ? thank you !

Funny, my 1080p performance is the same.... So I'm guessing I'm severely CPU limited... I'm probably gonna have the same frames at 4K (7800X3D and 4090 ASUS with 64 6000 CL30 RAM). I do have terrain cranked up, and Object LOD cranked up, and cockpit refresh rate cranked up too.

Is OBS running on your simulator PC? Are you using OBS screen capture or a capture card?

Im just trying to understand if the 7800X3D can handle all the background tasks im used to running on my sim (OBS, air manager, head tracking, navigation, etc.). I see you're around 34% cpu utilization. Im actually curious to see that broken out for each individual core if you find yourself doing another test video in the fiture. I'm interested to see if you have any cores sitting around relatively idle. Im really torn between the 7800x3D and 7900X3D.

i have a 7700x and a 4070ti 12gbvram with 32gb ddr5 ram at 5600mhz. MSFS runs full ultra with all online data at 55-65 fps with mild stuttering only in large 3d rendering areas. I just bought a 7800x3d, and upgraded to 64gb ddr5 6400mhz. hoping my stuttering goes to minimal to nonexistent. would love if i had the cash for a 4090.

Thanks for the video ! I just bought a new pc cpu 7 7800x3D, RTX 4080 super, ddr5 6000mhz, i would love to know which configuration did u do for ur 7 7800x3D or u have just keep as default, because mine in game the temp is not stable goes up to 80 and then goes down to 60, each 5 sec like that .
