Great video! Don’t give up on the Schismatoglottis, this genus has about 109 species! They are referred to as either aquatic or amphibious plants. They grow either in water or on the banks of rivers etc. where occasionally they would be almost submerged. Also the soil on river banks is not always the best, usually quite gravelly. I gave up paying attention to care guides for the Wallichii, eg potting mix. I grow mine in semi hydro with only PON as the substrate. You have to watch the leaves, as soon as they start to droop, instantly fill up the reservoir. Sometimes I miss the signs, then in the morning I find all the leaves drooping down, but 20 min after watering all the leaves perk up again. Mine is about a metre or so from a south facing window and gets bright filtered light. The humidity in the room ranges from 50% to 60%. I have had mine for more than 12 months and it is doing very well indeed, even giving blooms similar to an aglaonema but I cut them off.

You're awesome! Greetings from the Netherlands.🇳🇱
I ❤ cacti, but this year I'm trying to grow food indoors. Strawberries, peppers, herbs etc. I mostly buy something if needed, but if I would make a wishlist I guess a carnivorous plant would be on it. I try growing those every year, but they always end up dying.

I feel so honored that I have a plant on your wishlist! I have 2 schismattoglottis’ walichii! I have them in a very chunky, heavy pumice mix with a self watering wick, and it LOVES it.

I have a Schismatoglottis wallichii, and after killing 2 of them, I FINALLY figured out how to care for it. One perished to spider mites, I'm pretty sure, and the other was inconsistent conditions. I kept changing it from place to place, waiting too long to water it, then watering it before it needed to be.

❤ your wishlist for the year. I'm a big fan of pink variegations so that's what I'm always after 😊🌿💮

Your Labisia experience is very different to mine. I have several Labisia and Ardisia plants, all of them in either my cabinet or in normal living room conditions and they are absolutely fine. No need for a terrarium at all. One thing I noticed about them though is that they do best potted in sphagnum moss and kept ALWAYS moist. They do not like to dry out even slightly.

I have both a sarian and a Cercestis mirabilis, they live right next to each other in fact! The miribilis has been a very easy plant for me. I got it for a major discount because its only leaf was so badly sun damaged, but a few months on and it has given me new growth and is very happy. It's not a hard plant, but its a SLOW plant. The sarian is definitely light hungry, mine lives right up against a window without direct light, but constant bright light and still likes to reach for more. I'm located in a very hot, dry part of Australia as well and it could STILL do with a bit more light, so that would be my biggest advice.

I started my indoor plants collection last year, so my wishlist may seem very basic to most.
My top 10 on my wishlist : Hoya Wilbur Graves, Begonia Maura Waha, Euphorbia ingens var, Mermaid Tail plant, Spider plant, Echveria Blue Fairy, Sansevieria Metallica, Sansevieria Moonshine, Scindapsus Silver Splash, Thanksgiving cactus var
There are of course many more, but those are my priority, though some of these still have a high price tag I’m not willing to pay

I've never had Cercestis, but I've heard that most people fail with them because they treat them like Alocasia and really, you should think of them as a ... but as they climb, their leaves mature and they lose the white and develop splits ... but I think they literally just tear quite regularly, so most people don't want them to climb because they want the immature foliage .... and then they send out runners because they want to climb.

I recently discovered the homalomena black velvet, and I am in love 😍 I know absolutely nothing about this plant lol but I hope to add it to my collection this year.

Wow! You sure do love a challenge Claire. 😅 I have the Cercestis Mirabilis and have a roller coaster ride with it. It loves high humidity and don't dare delay a watering or it skitzes at you. It is particularly beautiful so I keep going with it. Good luck.

I recently purchased a plant at my local hardware store on clearance it was labeled dwarf Musa King banana it is so satisfying to grow because it grows so quickly and yet stays small I have it about three feet from a semi sunny window with an overhang and it grows like a weed I'm sure led lights would be fine the ultimate tropical vibe just an idea for your wish list love the channel keep up the good work ART.

My husband found the A. Sarian in the bargain basement section of the garden centre for £6 a few years ago. It had a terrible spidermite infestation and i had to grow it back from corms. Now its big and beautiful again but the spider mite struggle is real! I use metal supports to keep the stems upright 💚
