There should be 16 teams in odi world cup with 63 matches
Odi league 2 should be expanded to 24th team and challenge league should be upto 40th rank

When im the icc president i would make every single team play qualifiers... only the host nation will get automatic qualification and the rest needs to participate in the qualifiers so if india or pakistan or Australia or England or new zealand fails to qualify then they won't be in the world cup

Only 14 teams is not enough for world cup it should be minimum 16 teams

I personally believe 14 teams are good for now. Don't get me wrong, but we have to view 50 over World Cup from so many different angles. There is a difference between t20 and odi event. Upcoming T20 world cup 2024 will be for a month (possibly few days more) because matches are short, but odi last more than twice the time. We also have to have at least some competition and T20 World Cup 2022 was the best example by far with lower teams (including Ire and Zim) beating full members, but in odi there is not much competition from associate nations. Scot and Ned are the top tier performed teams because on their days there will be upsets, so they can fill the 13 & 14 spot. Other than them, we can't find/ guarantee about others, Oman did really good in League 2 2019-23 (2nd placed) and CWC Qualifier 2023 (Promoted Super Six) as an associate, but we have to see their performance against FM in this format. Nepal is not on the level to play an odi world cup because of the bad record their performance outside Asia, not better than 3 previous associates I talked earlier and never played an ODI against FM before CWC Qualifier 2023, not even a win till now. Other than them no one can even make the list in ODI format for participation in World Cup.

I think the format as of 18 teams
6 teams in one group
Top 2 teams will qualify for the quater-final
The 2 best teams which are ranked 3rd will also qualify for the quater-final
Then The remaining the will play play-off for the next ranks
Then the knock-out matches
The numbers of teams participating in the qualifying process should be atleast 60 teams
This is my opinion of format of 2031 ICC ODI WORLD CUP

ODI format should be 35 overs, 2.5 hours less time, because 50 overs looks boring in the middle (10-40 over), all people have not much time watch whole match

24 teams chahiye, divide them into 4 groups of six teams. Top four from each goes through to the round of 16 which will be knock out then quarter final, semi final and final.

16 team format
4 groups 4 teams each group
top 2 teams from each group qualify for QF then SF and 3rd place and final



T20I world Cup

For 20 teams

1)
4 groups 5 teams each group. QF>SF>3rd>Final
2)
5 groups 4 team each group. Group winner is advance for QF and best 3 runners up team advance for QF. then SF > 3rd > Final
