Whilst I agree with Haruna on the position of the law with regards to this issue, I think this constitutional provision is useless and retrogressive. MPs are elected to represent all people in the constituency, not their parties. We must allow MPs to be independent in their thinking regardless of the platform they used to come to Parliament. This provision in the constitution can easily be used by political parties to control MPs to act in the interest of the party, not the country. Article 97(1)(g)&(h) must be repealed.
