That’s a guy that provided up until his last day. I’m sure he left her finically secured, she just needs to talk with an accountant and get her a team going to handle or teach her the ways.

I saw something very similar literally yesterday in the shop. An older but not super old chap (55-60?) was confused about how tills worked, and he was all apologetic because of holding everybody up, and said, "I'm sorry, I've not done shopping before, I'm just doing as my wife is too ill". And I just found that difficult to comprehend.

Even if he was taking care of his wife. He should've at least taught her how to handle this type of situation.

My MiL had the same arrangement with her husband, it definitely seems like the sort of thing a couple should at least sit down and discuss on occasion even if one primarily handles it.

Caller should consider using a rental agency, at least until she can find the time to learn/do it herself, I worry that it's just too much to take on all at once w 5 kids.

This is why i don’t want my wife to stop working. You never know how life turns out, and then she will be left w/ the kids & the bill, but w/o income & work experience.

Simple stuff, really. Just do a checklist for living expenses. For landlording or whatever that means (I’ll assume it means managing rental properties), she can start by connecting with people her dead husband used to work with.

That’s on the husband and wife. He should have taught her how to do things/she should have said “hey will you teach me how to do this” in case this exact situation comes up.

I know a lot of relationships like this and it usually comes down to the man Being a control freak doesn't mean he's not a great provider or even a good person. It just means they have to control everything in their life.
