"The loss of the life made by hand sets up a voracious hunger in the psyche, and then things that seem like fulfillment, things that seem exciting, things that seem pleasureable, are taken in as if they are that handmade thing. Except instead of making well and making life, they bring destruction."

Jungian analyst and cantadora Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés gives her famous telling of "The Red Shoes".

Was suprised not to find this anywhere on YouTube so here it is.

Thank you, Clarissa, this is one of my absolute favorite stories of yours… I have thought about it off and on over the last 20 years since I read it… And I have shared it a few times with others, when thought it might be helpful or it seemed apropos! Your work is so important! Keep telling stories🎉🎉❤❤❤❤

You're voice is golden and rains down to my ears like the sound of my mother's voice heard through the walls of my room when I was a girl. Thank you for the instant recollection of such a precious sensory memory.

I don't get why anyone would like this story or agree with it. To me it's very clear that the story is saying you can't trust your heart and if you dare to take pleasure or look for joy and excitement then you are doomed to despair and a fate worse than death. You should just sit quietly and do what you're told and don't make a fuss. And definitely whatever you do don't stand out from the crowd of follow your joy. I'm glad there's an explanation underneath because I never would have guessed that's what the author thought they were writing.

Hello, sorry to disturb you. Lovely video and topic, Thank you. I have been looking everywhere for "The boy who married an eagle". My heart breaks a little as I see it is unavailable to read, purchase, listen to. It has vanished. About now is a good time to dive into and incorporate some divine masculine in the world, has this book been censored? I pray its not lost to us forever. Have you been able to come across that reading/book by Clarissa Pinkola Estes?? Thank you for your attention. Truly - Natalia

Clarissa Pinkola Estes a true Cantadora or Songstress.
'The importance of Cantadoras, or traditional singers, lies in their role as cultural keepers, storytelling, and connecting communities through music and oral traditions. They are vital in preserving cultural heritage, offering a voice to marginalized communities, and fostering a sense of shared identity. '
