Having Xabi Alonso was like having Kroos and Casemiro morphed into 1. The man was composed, an excellent passer, and great tackler. Great leader to have in midfield. Xabi’s an absolute joy to have and I hope he returns to Madrid one day.

True story this. In 2010 was at Tenerife Airport about to leave after a short xmas break. I spotted the entire Tenerife squad flying out to play Rayo Valladolid and approached a guy who looked like Xabi Alonso. I then discovered it was his older brother, Mikel. Shook his hands and told him that we missed Xavi and would love him to come back Liverpool now that Rafa's gone. His brother had no idea that the Liverpool fans still held him highly - seeing I spoke on the LFC fan's behalves, so he promised me the moment he lands to Spanish mainland, he'd contact Xabi and pass the message. Two or three weeks later, there was multiple article posted online (inc LFC) and on Vogue magazine where Xabi declared his love for the Liverpool fans and the club. I was so happy seeing that article. True class!

People people stop comparing. Iniesta was an Attacking Midfielder, Alonso was a Defensive Midfielder and Pirlo was a Centre Midfielder. Alonso and Pirlo had the best vision and passing and could beat 5-6 players with one long pass. Iniesta was more skilled and better at attacking.
