I hope having him to wear the boots are not the only thing being done to stop the itchiness/ allergic reaction.
A cytopoint injection might give him the relief. It works within hours. My dog scratched herself constantly. Her ears bled after each scratch session. She received the injection and stopped scratching mid-scratch a couple of hours later. And when she put her paw in her mouth like usual after scratching she was like "Why do I have my paw in my mouth" and she spit it out.
She didn't do any scratching, licking and putting her paw in her mouth anymore until the effects wore off and she needed a new injection.

Poor dog.. He doesn't like wearing them. Find the source of his allergies instead of covering all his 4 paws? So unnatural for dogs.
