the fact that Steven Spielberg plays the clerk @ 1:10 continues to blow my mind to this day...

And to think this started as a skit on Saturday Night Live in 1978, and as for the backing band.... every single one of them is an absolute legend

If there’s a lesson you can learn from the Blues Brothers, it’s that you can get away with anything as long as you’re on a mission from God.

I've always said, this should be the in-flight movie for every flight into Chicago. You know, get people up to speed with how we roll.

One of my all-time favourites. From the genius mind of Dan Aykroyd.

so the story goes when they made this movie, the Chicago Chamber of Commerce had been trying for years to get more films and tv shows made in the city, but the only projects they were getting offers for were gangster movies, which understandably make the city's national image worse. So when The Blues Brothers came along and was *not* a gangster movie, the Chamber of Commerce let them do absolutely anything they wanted. Jump a car over a bridge? Sure. Stage a high-speed pursuit through a shopping mall? Go for it. HAVE THE NATIONAL GUARD SCALE THE SIDE OF THE JOHN HANCOCK BUILDING? Why not?

I'm live in Chicago and went to see this movie 4 times. Each time, folks would cheer when the scenes took place in their part of town.

I simply cannot believe that guy is Steven Spielberg! He has changed so much over the years. I mean we all change but for him it was incredible.

I was 20 when this movie came out. What an era. A lot of great ones came out in the 1980s.

I was 20, when this movie came. I loved it so much, I went back the following week to see. This was the only movie I paid twice to see.

The blond guy @ 3:18 banging his cup on the table is Joe Walsh from the Eagles. He was good friend with John Belushi.
