1974 Datsun 260Z Junkyard Find For Sale. Someone asked about this one so I thought I'd stop on my way out and get a quick video of it.
This 74 Z car looks pretty straight but she has hwr fair share of rust along the bottom and the hatch. The interior was all there from what I could tell. Under the hood looked about the same. What do you guys think about the asking price?

When it was new that was a sweet little ride!

The Z only sold for about $4600.00 new. I sold at tommy Thomas Datsun Mercedes in Panama City Florida. Everything to include ac was added. Even the radio. Maybe a donor car here

Thanks for the video. I just sold my '76 280Z which had very little rust for $2K. But I sold it to a family friend who's going to restore it so better to let it go than to just sit and deteriorate more in my driveway. At least mine will be back in the road again.

Pontiac Fiero, been a long time since I had seen one of those. One of my classmates in high school bought one new except in red. What memories.

It's a Z, and that's the best one for me. My sister's boyfriend in 1982-1983 had a few of these and one day NYPD came to our house while he was here visiting and locked him up saying it was a hot/tagged car. He had just bought it. My father tried to intervene and reason with the cop and he was nice but he said, "Listen Mac, the car's hot. He comes with us until we can straighten it out". Off he went to the pokey and then I believe it was straightened out.

Yup, we get the VIN, we win: R for L26 engine, 2.6L for 260Z, L for left hand drive, S30 for basic Z car model and the rest is the production sequence. I think that was added to the front bumper. I don't recall that being OEM. Possible code #306 Silver Poly exterior paint. This has two SU carburetors. The 1975 280Z would bring Bosch derived/inspired fuel injection to this engine and bump it up to 2.8L which would carry the 280Z line through the 1983 model year. The 300ZX replaced it in 1984 and of course had a 3.0L engine.

The man that introduced the Z car to the US was named Yutaka Katayama or "Mr. K" as he was known. For a time he was in the US and helping the Datsun dealer network get up and running and expanded and then went back to Japan in 1977. He was not well received by Nissan management in Japan for his radical ideas according to what I read. However, he was a genius and a very humble man. The reason the Z car was the success that it was was due to Mr. K. This one was assembled in Kanagawa, Japan as they typically all were from 1969 to 2000.

It's a Z, it's over for thee. You've got rot and that makes you shot. Mr. K brought you here, but you're headed back to China, have no fear. You're going to be squished and some of us will be pissed.

$2, 695 gets a running 1990-1993 300ZX, forget this pile.

Turning into a triple feature. The more the better. 👍 I think that bar was added & not factory but I could be wrong, I've just never seen a bar on back bumper when growing up.

What's Good Benny Mesquite on the check in... I hate to sound repetitive but for arguments sake, the LS Swap on early Z cars are Beasts at the track. It's super light and if you can drive they'll shoot a straight line Everytime... Stay Safe Out There Buddy.

Another good video man them prices got go man those were excellent cars back in the day the fuel injected straight 6 cyl would run long past the life off that body and chassis’s.bring them over from Japan in belly off those ships and all that salt water really compromised the metal on those cars they rusted out quickly..I see them be a couple years old and they already have advanced stages off rust .👍

I thought the 240 went from 1970 to 1973... in 1974, they bumped that beautiful 6 cyl to 2.6 litres, hence the 260 label. That looks all original, except for the radio/rims combo. Bet that's a matching #'s drivetrain.
Great vid, by the way!👍Thanks.😎
PS, I was wondering about those extra bars on the bumpers as well!

I've got $26.95, shipping included. I'd like to think almost any car can be saved, but that hot spot on the hood makes me think twice.

That car is a parts car. I have a 1973 240Z myself.

If it has a rear seat, it’s a 74.5. The bumpers look 74.5....
I’d say it’s more likely a 75
