A big thing that goes into it as well is the size of your teammates too. You might be ideal size and build for a position but if everyone else on your team is undersized for example they might place you out of position for sake of the entire team

For anyone who isn’t necessarily the biggest, fastest, or most skilled guy on the field but they still want to get a starting spot may I recommend Long Snapper? Sure you won’t be in the spotlight but I can assure you that 99%+ of people watching can easily get a starting spot and even a ticket to varsity within a year or two. It certainly worked for me and I’m already competing for the starting varsity slot at a much younger age than other players in my same year. It’s genuinely fun and you touch the ball at least a few times a game.

As soon as I heard “ask your dad how tall he was” I knew it was over

I’m 13, in the 7th grade, 5 feet and 7 inches 139 pounds. My team had me play a mixture of positions such as LB, RB, DE and TE. I will most likely grow to be 5, 9- 5, 11. I’m pretty fast compared to the rest of my team but not the best when it comes to agility and am a decent catcher and a great hitter. I would love to play LB but I don’t know if it’s the best fit for me. What should I do?

This helped a lot thank you I'm gonna be a freshman and I'm joining football but I was struggling with finding what I might be the best at.

i’m currently 5’10-5’11 and 190 lbs and i’m a rising freshman. when coaches see me, they see my build and they all say that i’m fit to be a backer and i’m still not done growing. i feel as though the top linebackers in hs are usually 6’1-6’2 and 215-230 lbs. my main concern is how will i be able to put on 30-45 lbs in the course of the next few years? my other concern is my coach sees me coming in as a rb/lb or ss but i still want to get my hands dirty and try out other positions like receiver or db (preferably safety) what should i do???

I am going to put in work at the gym and get more lean muscle before entering my freshman year. I believe by then I would be 6'0 something.

I’m 5’7 and going into freshman year but my birth dad was 6’3 220lbs and my grandpa on my moms side was 6’2 and I have always loved middle linebacker and that’s what everything points me towards and again I just love middle linebacker

My son is HUGE. He's 8 years old, stands tall at 5'4 and weighs 242 pounds, wears a size 11 men's shoe. They put him on offense but everyone runs from him and it's hard for him to catch anyone. On defense though he can tackle/push back 3 kids at the same time. I was thinking defense might be better for him? He's run the ball during scrimmages and he's not fast but nobody can knock him down. It's little league so the whistle gets blown when the entire team is on him but he's still standing.

I'm five foot five, 130 lbs. I know I don't have the size to be a linebacker, but I got the attitude. I got the aggressiveness, and I'm used to brawling with bigger dudes so I got that toughness. But the guys at my desired positon are are all 180 pounds and above. What do I do to make sure I stand out and get selected as a LB? Thanks.

Currently I’m a qb and defensive end and I’m 5’8 140 pounds as a freshman and I’ve been wanting to switch away from qb and go somewhere else and I have pretty good hands and kinda fast but not super fast, what position should I switch to on offense and defense if I should?
