The Supreme Court on June 13 accepted the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Union's decision to cancel grace marks awarded to 1,563 candidates in the NEET UG examination due to insufficient exam time. These candidates now have the option to take a re-examination if they choose. Alternatively, their final NEET score will be calculated without the grace marks.

NTA has committed to completing the re-examination process and announcing results by June 30, with counselling expected to commence on July 4. The re-examination itself is scheduled for June 23.

This ruling effectively resolves the controversy surrounding the awarding of grace marks in NEET UG. However, the broader issue concerning the cancellation of the NEET UG exam is set for further court deliberation on July 8.
