Pros: You're about an hour from better places.
Cons: You're in Dayton.

Just bought a house here in Dayton and didn't know what I'm getting myself into. I have a lot of positive thoughts and hopes for the city and it has a lot of potential to be great place (not that it ever wasn't). I'm a transplant from California and I moved here due to the cost of housing (not living - as the house I bought in Dayton would cost about half a million in California and that's what's amazing). I'm looking forward to what this city will have for me to enjoy and hopefully the city planners will help turn it around some more.

The only good thing about Dayton is the cost of living. My first apartment was 375 a month and now I live in a big city and it’s 5x higher.

I moved here 2 years ago from CA and it’s horrible. The people, the drivers, the district rules for the schools and healthcare. It sucks

LOL I’m from Minnesota. I laugh at your winters. That is our spring. Our January high is 9 degrees.

The summers sound nice with temps in the 80s. In Austin, our summers are can be over 5 plus months with 3 straight months over 100 plus. I can't take the heat anymore!

I grew up among the Amish all my life and lived in Dayton for the past 8 years. There's nothing fascinating about this city. There's a reason everyone goes to other cities within the state.

I know this is coming from relators who have an interest in their own profit, but this incredibly disappointing in how it glazes over the very real issues Dayton has. School funding, public transit, exurb flight, crime (but more, the systemic issues that cause it), segregation. I believe the words "This is bad comedy" are most relevant. And if you are getting hit by quotes from a 1986 animated movie about robots, maybe you should reconsider your works.

Also as a Chaminade Julienne graduate of '98, the people scared of downtown calling it not very nice, are actually part of Dayton's root cause problem. I knew this then and I know this now as a resident of Columbus' Short North. We all know what Being Scared Of That means. I'm saying canines can hear it, to be crystal clear.

So completely ignore the high crime, large amount of drug users, the lack of blue collar jobs, and the horrible schools? I've lived in 11 states and 4 countries and Dayton is the second worst city I've lived in. Now I definitely agree the traffic is great here as is the coffee/bars/restaurants and the bike paths.

I just moved here from St. Louis Mo I’m still debating if I like it or not😕not much to really do as far as night life. And so far my favorite place is the Oregon District and definitely the beautiful scenery on the trails.

I have been partying in the Oregon District since the 80s, people who hate on Dayton just don’t know where to go

i lived oin Dayton from 1941 to 1965. It was a nice place to grow up, but no longer. I returned to work near the oREGON dISTRICT FROM 1966 to 1970 at St Oauks Lutheran Church, 239 Watne Ve. It has now closed after 160 years. That's the story of Dayton.

If you plan tp live in Dayton, have a bullet proof vest and alarms for your cars and home, and don't walk alone after dark.
