We adore this film and have watched it many times. Nicholson was never better. And it is ultimately about a "family" making a very difficult journey. It never gets old

One of Nicholson's greatest films. Often overlooked when people speak of his work. For me it's up there with The Shining, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest and The Postman Always Rings Twice.

What a film. When a story is able to represent real characters and real public life then transform it into psychological and mythical play, the Last Detail is what you get. Very poignant in parts, will never forget this film

Hal Ashby is underrated--"Harold and Maude;" "The Last Detail;" "Shampoo;" "Bound for Glory;" "Coming Home;" and "Being There" is one hell of a run of consecutive films to make. See "The Last Detail" if you haven't, and if you like it, check out Ashby's other work too.

Watching these clips remind me of what a great actor Jack Nicholson is. The part of the movie where they go to a Buddhist meeting in Washington is quite interesting.
