If you are investing for a short period of time, then a money market fund is a useful low-risk way of generating return on your capital. The rate of return will vary depending on short-term interest rates but is usually better than instant access cash in a bank account with the benefit of being immediately available if you need the money.

In this video, we look at what money market funds are, what they buy, what return to expect and the definition of a Qualifying Money Market Fund (QMMF)

This is the best explanation I've heard about money market funds. Thanks a lot!

What are your thoughts on the idea of converting spare cash into csk (Czech crown) to get the 6% interest? Poland and Hungary also have good rates on here (6 and 7% respectively), but I'm using csk asy example as I travel there regularly, and I know the exchange rate is pretty stable. The fee for converting two ways (to brown, then back to euro when needed)would be covered in the first week. A seventh of 1%.

If wished, could you stay permanently invested in MM funds getting 5%? Invested via an ISA would get you a tax free income.
