Money Market Funds

Money market funds are a low-risk, low-cost investment where you can temporarily park cash inside a Stocks & Shares ISA or a SIPP. They are low risk because they allocate their capital into short-duration, high credit quality fixed income.

Another good video Ramin. All you are looking to achieve with a money market fund is the offset of most of your platform charges in the short term. This is what makes it slightly better than leaving it as cash in your investing account. It's a cash park. This is where you store 'dry powder', it isn't an investment. Not vanguard's fault if investors don't get that.

Hi Ramin.
Would you mind to do an update video on Money market funds ?
Their current monthly return above 3%. Vanguard try to push their money market funds, because they lowered their cash interest on ISAs account.
Thank you

I also think that these funds are quite pointless, at least for 99% of people. You can find cash ISAs or even savings accounts with more return than that... and also with fscs protection. So you get more return and it’s also safer to invest in a savings account(if you don’t want to use your ISA allowance).

So during a recession and possible Market downturn, Money Market would be a place to park assests during the Crash.

I'm holding 18% of my money in a Money Market account waiting for buying opportunities, either Stock, real estate, or something else with the pandemic in 2021.. up until that point it was 5-7%, now its 18% because I sold a property.. I wonder if its ok for it to be in a money market account for a very long time.. I hope with that 5-7% cash I had sitting there for year that fees weren't eating away at it.

So why would you not keep your money in a normal savings account, even they have very low interest rates and have no restrictions?

So what's the benefit of putting your capital in a money market fund vs a savings account with a better interest rate? Does it avoid income taxes?

The main problem with money market funds is that if I need to pay the broker ongoing change then I will end up with negative returns.

Hmm, the advantage over a short term or instant notice bank deposit, with government guarantee for £85, 000 is what?

Paul Lewis might yet turn out to right to be concerned by MMF’s.

I sought independent financial advice, just like you suggested and it cost me everything. I want my money back, you owe me my money back! j/k... but seriously... stop telling people to seek advice from professionals regarding their life savings... that's bit is horrible advice. The pros don't give a fuck man. That's literally trading 101 on the first day.
