they are log cleats. to hold logs in place while building a log home. you pound one on each side at a 45 degree angle. it locks the log in place so you can safely work the log

he wacks them a time or two with one of those.

Log Trough/Log Dog you make them into a trough type configuration and set your logs in them to keep them stationary. the 2 "spiked" ends to toward the ground great for holding logs in place.

Actually, my guess would be log dogs used to secure your logs while hewing with an axe. Just make sure they have plenty of "bite" into the "bark"!

I built an edition on my log cabin and constructed it with the logs standing upright...Making passes with a chainsaw between two logs brought them tightly together....That used much less oakum for sealing the cracks....Upright logs sheds water nicely and makes for easy one man construction !

Log dogs to steady a log being worked and keep it from rolling. They are tied in pairs one for each side of the log (usually). They are used pointed to the log for rough work and away for finish work.

Easy peasy this time round. Log Frogs aka Log Cleats but as far as I am aware not known as log dogs.  Frog/cleat is used to support log usually in a log cabin type construction and prevent the log rolling. A log dog is used to prevent a slice/plank tear off from the log/beam when you have begun the process of ripping it in a horizontal cut

Log Dogs...they go underneath the logs for movement or positioning.

Those are some nicely made logdogs. Logdogs are use to hold the log securely when you bark, hew or measure it.

I'm going to guess they are used to hold logs while you build a log cabin, since the last tool was for removing bark from logs

According to my ears, they are typhoon powered Wind Chimes (no to mention built to last)... but My eyes say they are metal brackets for holding logs in place while we scrape them using the bark spud preventing them from moving to the right and to the left...

Log dogs, I've use them before. Love the debarker as well (longer handle a+).

fancy device to lengthen string over an extended period of time. Very handy if your string is just a little too short ;)
