Both are for the same purpose, to not take your finger off the joystick. But the paddle is way more comfortable and makes it so you don't hurt your pointer with all that bend.

Just get the scuf reflex, then you have both your X and Square buttons, but you also have 4 separate bindable paddles on the back.
