D/C HOW TO FIX REARING IN A HORSE - Part 1

👉 Please Note: This is a young gaited horse, a Missouri Fox Trotter, she is 100% sound. Her resistance to moving forward (which is the fix for rearing) makes her movement look odd and uncomfortable at times.

This is one effective training exercise that will help stop a horse from continuing to rear once he has started this undesirable, often dangerous, and disrespectful habit. Of course, as with any behavioral problems that arise out of the blue, it's best to first rule out pain, but the majority of the time you'll find that pain is not a contributing factor, and that a lack of respect, and at times trust, is at the root.

I am learning so much from your videos. The running narration and idea of the horse being in complete freedom when they find the right spot are awesome.

I really like you and how you train! Your self-confidence comes over even on this iPad and I’m sure the horses feel it too.

The horse is consistently uneven in the right hind !
This method does not stop a horse from rearing under saddle. The reins need to be longer, so the horse can find immediate relief when she tries to stretch into self-carriage and she can then become comfortable with the bit and connection, and learn to stretch over the topline, allowing her to USE her back and CARRY the rider comfortably, the horse will then naturally want to move forward without resistance.
