Another superb explanation, Derek, and thank you for a jog to my memory of days gone by - you showed in your montage at the end a view of old buildings in Church Street, Steyning, where I attended Steyning Grammar School (founded 1614) during the 1950s. The old school buildings (some of which are just out of the frame) are now up for sale, I believe, but finding buyers is hard because of the heritage protections on them.

Excellent video. The overall point that basic photography principles are as relevant today, even with computational photography features added to the camera, as they were when cameras didn't have automated features is well taken. PJI

Thank you Derek, I have been experimenting with this concept with an old Seikanon 28mm lens. Which I set to f8, with focus set to 3m - everything from 1.5m to infinity is in focus, also known as zone focussing. Great for street photography.
