Myopia: A Modern Yet Reversible Disease — Todd Becker, M.S. (AHS14)

Показать описание
Myopia, or near-sightedness, is generally assumed to be an irreversible, genetically determined condition that can only be ameliorated with corrective lenses or surgery. Its prevalence is 30-40% in the U.S. and Europe, and more than 50% in some Asian countries, but it is rare in Africa and in pre-industrial cultures. The incidence of myopia correlates with IQ, school achievement, and industrialization, suggesting that an environmental factor is at work—namely, near-work. This talk will review the biology and epidemiology of myopia and present experimental evidence that myopia can be reversed naturally by specific focusing techniques and practices.

I saw this video about one year ago, and have been used this method since then; so far my left eye went from -1, 50 to -1, 00 and right eye went from -2, 25 to -2, 00. I consider this to be a outstanding improvement to a "uncurable condition" as people say.

And the exercise that sounded really attractive is walking in nature looking at details - that is just pure joy

From India - Myopia - 1.... Done everything as suggested by sir then 4 months Myopia reduced to - 0.75 and now after 6 months it is - 0.5. Process is slow but it definitely works. Thank you so much sir... For your research. May God bless you sir. Whole hearted thanks.

Well I am back here after 3 years reporting my progress on this journey towards better vision. I starter at -3.5 diopters, after consistently following the technique described here by Dr. Todd, my current vision is at -0.75 diopters. Personally, this has been life-changing for me. I am able to drive on highways and can spend most of my day without wearing glasses.
However, my progress seems to have stagnated for the last 6-7 months. I have not tried the Plus Lenses yet. Hoping the Plus lenses will give me perfect 20/20 vision.
Thank you Dr. Todd for giving this talk. My friends who are Doctors themselves do not believe me when I mention the phenomenal results that this technique fetches. But I am a living proof and I vouch for this 100%.

This really worked for me. My eye strain reduced, my eye pressure reduced, my eyesight improved from 20/80 to 20/25. Just a little more to go until I'm back at 20/20. I'm almost ready to redo my vision test at my local motor vehicle department so that I can legally drive without "corrective wear".. No words can describe my gratitude toward Todd. Sir, you are a hero to me. I salute you.

My son got shortsighted. I almost cried from unhappiness and disappointment when the optometrist said ‘There is no way to correct it, it will only get worse and worse and need to wear glasses and contact lenses to slowdown the progression of myopia’. But I looked for the way to help my son, and I found this video. I almost cried from happiness when I was listening to Todd. I am now working with my son everyday on active focusing… we hope we can get normal vision back for him after couple of years. Thank you Dr. Todd. Bow to you Sir. :)

I lost my glasses and went without them for 13 months... to my surprise my eyesight improve in my left eye. I was expecting it to be worse... I was baffled and so was my optometrist. This certainly explains it.

In July, I went to the optometrist for a new prescription which was - 4.75 in each eye. He said my vision was 20/500. Basically that means I couldn't even see the E on the Snellen chart. He wanted to do a glaucoma test. I found it puzzling since I'm only 27 and figured that glaucoma was an old person's disease,  but upon research I learned something different. Myopia is a leading risk factor, not only of glaucoma but retinal detachment. I've been to several optometrists (both in Canada and the U.S) but this was never discussed with me. I was lead to believe my only real answer was glasses or laser surgery. I did some eye exercises briefly last year, only for a week or two and not consistently. I didn't have patience with it and gave up too easily. However, this time I was resolved to give this a second try... and I came across this wonderful video. I've now incorporated active focus and print pushing into my daily routine, along with a few other eye exercises, and have seen amazing results. In the last five weeks, I've managed to reverse 5 years of vision deterioration. I'm now on a pair of glasses I used in 2014, which I can even drive with now. This prescription is a whole diopter lower. I just want to say "Thank you."

Thank you very much Dr Todd Becker, I could restore my natural vision after believing you and practised for one year. My myopia is completely reversed .

Doctors kept prescribing me stronger and stronger glasses, till I said STOP! After -5.0 I started to lower it myself, I am currently at -2.00. I do not wear glasses nonstop, just when really needed.

I would like to circle back here just to thank this man.. I watched this video about 9 months ago and I immediately started on this journey. My prescription was -2.0 back then and just recently when I had a review, I was given a -1.25. I'm so excited and even more eager to keep going. Thank you sir.

okay, this will be a true challenge... bc being over 50 with a typical bookworm focus of - 8... still, I am so excited

I've been doing  this for like 2 years and it really does work. You just gotta be patient, at least in my case my vision improves quite slowly. But as Mr. Becker said, you have to keep in mind how long it took your myopia to develop. It's just logical that you need quite a while to reverse this whole process.

I once noticed an improvement in my eyesight after spending few days in nature without my glasses.

I could write a book on this. I’ve gone through many iterations of this until finally figuring out what worked for me. The problem I was having was putting too much emphasis on consciously controlling my focus which would cascade to strain on my extraocular muscles. General eye strain would inevitably set in and the effort would end in frustration. This went on for a loooong time. I eventually had surgery which bridged a chunk of the gap, but I realized to my dismay after the settling period that my night vision was still haloed and poor and my day vision was still very compromised. This went on for a year after surgery. The blessing from surgery is it still created less strenuous conditions for me to learn proper techniques. It also put me in a frame of mind that I simply had to figure it out, since I couldn’t rely on surgery to fix everything. What finally worked for me was realizing that I needed to create conditions for my eyes to do their own work. And I had to deliberately fight against the predisposition to force it along (my primary bad habit). So, well lit spaces, low stress, giving the eyes time to decide when they were going to relax and accommodate to the far detail I was gazing upon. It took a couple months to accomplish what I couldn’t do previously no matter how hard I tried. Previously I would have some successes and my eyes would seem like they were progressing, but overstrain would inevitably disrupt that success and send me into discouragement. But this time, with my revised approach, I got over that hump, and understood better the bad habits that engendered the original issue from third grade, I have had excellent eyesight since. I finally felt confident enough to go get my eye exam as part of my flight physical for pursuing a PPL. They declared me greater than 20/20, and I know from looking at my eye chart on a daily basis for the prior couple months I never would’ve passed otherwise, nor would I have wanted to fly in that state, especially in low light conditions.
When your eyes start to accommodate, it can sometimes create a light stinging sensation and eye watering. This dissipates as your eyes adjust to the new normal. I cannot over emphasize enough: you have to get out of your head. This is where I believe the Gym/exercise analogy may fail people. Your subconscious focusing faculty has to drive this process and you only need to create the conditions for it to do so. By the way, a good nights sleep and hydration, etc. are essential, or your eyes will simply not play ball. Also, there is something to be said for perhaps needing to learn this process under less strenuous conditions. For example if your present vision is very bad, as mine was, you may need partial accommodation to be able to relax learn the correct passive technique and then you can lose the crutch. Or as he did here, find the edge of focus. I had a hard time doing that. Also, reading especially during work on a computer, is more strenuous than what is needed here. Lightly look at text. That’s different from reading. Hope this helps, and that people can learn from my mistakes.
