The rubber washer is used for packaging purpose only and is not used when attaching the Broadhead to the arrow shaft. This is clearly stated in the directions that come with the broadhead

Just got a package of these myself so far really impressed with them only thing I noticed though is the instructions state to not leave the rubber oring on it is for shipping only

Qad says rubber o rings are for shipping only and should be removed before use

Blade over shaft is designed to be closer to the same overall length your arrow would be with a field tip. Most fixed blades end up being long.

Just a heads up on these broad heads. They were hitting my rest when at full draw causing the arrow to fall out. Had to get longer knocks to solve this issue. The blades sit back past the point. The new nocks are about 1/8 to quarter inch longer.

I love these heads. No idea why more people aren't using them. Relatively affordable, super sharp, durable, and brilliant design.
