Torqueedo Electric Outboard Demonstration, 2015

Показать описание
(The dinghy shown is a West Marine RU-3, PVC rollup, often on sale for less than $700 US)
When it comes to taking the crew ashore, rowing an inflatable is awkward and slow. On the other hand, a heavy outboard hanging on the stern rail is at best a flag of convenience. How about a Torqueedo electric outboard motor, which is smaller, lighter, and comes apart for easy storage belowdecks with no fluids to leak or stain the doilies? The jury will be out for a while on the question of lifespan and battery endurance, but the initial impression is good.

Another great video, Christian. "There's nothing like a hard dinghy." LOL  You've got a dry sense of humor so I'm never sure when you're cracking wise or being straight. I still laugh at the Lindsey Lohan traveling companion statement. Hope you'll give us a follow-up vid once you've used the Torqueedo for a couple of months. Good winds to you~

V inspiring brother. Your videos always make me want to go sailing. I’m in Alaska for work and once I pay off my debt I’ll be sailing to Hawaii for my own adventure.

haha $600 for the batteries, I bought my used Prindle 16 including the trailer for $500. Hopefully one day I'll have enough expendable income to be able to afford all these goodies. One step at a time. Love your videos, keep posting them!

We have enjoyed all your videos, especially your trip to Hawaii having
made the same trip.  We also like small sailing dinghies and we
manufacturer trim tabs and sail rigs which add performance (for motors
like the Torqueedo) and sailing capability for inflatable boats.

Can also use a small electric trolling motor and $100 marine battery. I've even used that combo for my 21 foot day sailor when I had outboard problems.

We have a Torquedo T1300 on our 5 person Zodiac dinghy, and we love it

also would be interesting to see how fast, and for how long, it would go with those 5 people in the dinghy

Any updated thoughts after 3 years with the Torqueedo? Do you still like it? Is it holding up?

"There's nothing like a hard dinghy". Can you say that on the internet?

Are you still using it and if so, how has it held up over time?

Do you have enough experience now to update on this?
Been looking at this brand and the Elco models.

$1699 to $2699? I'll take my $500 3hp 2-stroke (<30lbs) and live with gas & oil.

I think that high-pitched whining sounds much worse than a gas engine, TBH ... have they made any improvements to this sound over the past 5 years?
