Bols Around The World is a competition on a global scale, so we thought it only fitting to draw inspiration from the whole world, more exact from a certain point in time,
the great Dutch colonial Empire, Established in the late 16th century.
The Dutch East-India Company and its sister-part Dutch West-India Company, were created to trade anything they could get their hands on in the foreign lands, but most importantly spices.
In our travels we find Lemongrass, Kaffir Lime, Pomelo and Cardamom from Asia.
Cacao bean from the Dutch Gold Coast in Ghana, Africa.
Vanilla and Allspice from Guyana in South America, one of the few countries on the mainland considered to be a part of the Caribbean.
The Bols Family started their own Empire in 1575, mastering distilling and blending, aided by the Dutch trading companies who brought back exotic herbs, spices and fruits back to Amsterdam from far, far away. Something the Dutch trading companies did not think about but we have, is sustainability on our planet, with the aromatic leftover powder as a garnish, all ingredients are used twice.
