Searching for things to do in Gliwice, Poland!

On my second visit to the industrial city of Katowice in Poland, I had a spare day. I decided to take a train to the nearby Gliwice. I had no idea if there was anything worth seeing in the city but, with a population of just under 200,000, I figured there must be something to keep me occupied for a day.

Having fuelled up on coffee and Polish food, I headed out of the centre to visit the radio tower, the location of a false flag attack staged by Nazi Germany on 31 August 1939 in order to justify the invasion of Poland.

After 18 months of a life on pause, thanks to the sodding corona virus, and endless hours on Google Maps checking out all the places I want to visit, the time has finally arrived to begin my travels in Europe.

Starting in Berlin, I plan to travel east as far as Georgia and taking in pretty much all of the countries in between.

I will be vlogging my way through Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova, Turkey and probably many more.

Join me from the start of my journey so you can say you were there right from the start :)

As the owner of Bar Mikrus in Gliwice I would like to thank you very much for your visit at our place and I hope you enjoyed your meal. I regret not being around at the time of your visit, ordering the food would have been much easier. We do serve rather large portions, but you can order half servings of veggies and potatoes for each dish, but unfortunately it's not that easy to do in english. Currently I am doing my best to make the menu international and avilable to everyone. Thank you again for your visit and take good care @global treats :)
Cheers!

My parents sent me to Gliwice to go to school .I was born in America but they wanted me to get a good dose of Polish culture and learn the language. That was 55 years ago. The Gliwice I remember was nothing like it looks today. In the winter if the snow fell at night in the morning it was covered in a black soot layer from the coal mines. In the summer the only reprieve from the heat was to go to a concrete swimming pool which always stunk of urine. Being an american I was bullied in school and shunned. But the thing that kept me sane was the incredible food. To this day Itry to recreate the dishes that I loved back then.
