Hot take: the talisman is one of his best. If you enjoyed the dark tower series in that there is a bunch of “world jumping” you’ll love it. It is bloated but still worth a read. So heart warming and satisfying

Oh The Bill Hodges trilogy is great! Mr. Mercedes is my third favorite book by him so far out of 25.

Mr. Mercedes is fantastic. Not on the level of 11-22-63, but very enjoyable.

Also curious to hear what you think about the Boogeyman movie! Saw it last night and loved it!

You’ll love Red Dragon! Great book. I’m also working my way through the Bill Hodges trilogy - the first book was awesome. If you like serial killer stories, I think you’ll really enjoy it. I’m not sure if people didn’t like the way Holly was portrayed specifically 🤷🏻‍♀️ or all women in the story. Holly is supposed to have Asperger’s/autism, so maybe some people didn’t understand the representation there. Not sure!

The Bill Hodges trilogy is on my top 10 King list. There’s one female character that’s a VERY dysfunctional alcoholic, but other female characters in the books were fine by me. I’ve noticed a lot of BookTubers (usually young females) knock SK for using words they don’t like or creating uncomfortable situations for his characters. IMO, part of his magic is magnifying the worst aspects of humanity to help define his protagonists or frame the narrative/create conflict. Also, a book written in the 70s, 80s, 90s (even 2000s) is gonna have different sensibilities. And that’s okay. 🤷‍♀️ I think you’ll like the series. Enjoy!

Agatha Christie wrote Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile! Both good movies!!!

Red dragon, silence, Hannibal, Hannibal rising. That’s at least according to the way the movies are told story wise. There is also Manhunter which the first version of Red Dragon before it was redone with Anthony Hopkins!

I’ve read the Hodges trilogy; “Finders Keepers” was the one I liked the most. Detested “Black House, ” but I want to reread “The Talisman.”

The Talisman is very bloated but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. 4 stars. But yes lots of people hate it! However, Blackhouse is one of my least favorite books he’s ever written. One of the very few King books that I don’t care for.

Bill Hodges trilogy is fantastic! So different from his usual stuff but they’re all 3 so good! Finders Keepers is top 10 for me it’s my favorite of the trio. Can’t wait for Holly this fall

I love Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs but do not care for Hannibal or Hannibal Rising.
